The Spy Who Loved Me follows British secret agent James Bond (Agent 007), who must reluctantly team up with a beautiful Soviet agent, Anya Amasova (Agent Triple X), to investigate the mysterious disappearances of British and Soviet nuclear submarines. Despite a tense rivalry—including Anya's vow to kill Bond for previously killing her lover in the line of duty—the two spies uncover a plot by Karl Stromberg, a megalomaniacal shipping tycoon who intends to use the stolen submarine missiles to trigger a global nuclear war and build a new civilization underwater. Bond and Anya survive encounters with Stromberg’s steel-jawed assassin, Jaws, and infiltrate the villain's floating marine base. Bond successfully reroutes the submarines to destroy each other, kills Stromberg, and rescues a captured Anya, who ultimately chooses to forgive 007 rather than execute her revenge.
