I wanted to explore the quiet truth that homes are never truly ours — we inherit them from the past and prepare them for the future. By letting the protagonist witness fragments of families across time, including his own, the film becomes a meditation on belonging, legacy, and the fragile beauty of domestic life. A home is not a destination; it’s a moment we share with others before it becomes someone else’s story. Purchased and Borrowed reflects this truth: we may buy a home, but we only ever borrow it from time.
